Inspired by a quote “The world begins at the kitchen table,” from Perhaps the World Ends Here by Joy Harjo My world began at the kitchen table. Throughout my childhood and my teen years my family ate dinner together at a typical 1060’s style 60 inch round, white Formica kitchen table at precisely 5:30 P.M, the minute my father arrived home from work. Each night we’d sit in the same seat as my mother, wearing her apron tied at her waist, served a hot home-cooked meal. My politically minded parents would debate the current events as my father praised my mom’s cooking.
