Inspired by “Excerpt from The Running Dream” by Wendlin Van Draanen in Linda Rief’s The Quickwrite Handbook.
I AM A NOTE TAKER constantly scribbling on tiny pieces of papers grabbing any old slice close by index cards, post-its, the back of pieces of mail, rectangular pads - the kind you get free in your mailbox from charities that hope they’ll guilt you to send a generous donation a gazillion loose pieces of papers all around me all the time beside my computer, covering the kitchen countertop, on my nightstand around my school desk, inside my rolling bag, stuck between pages where I scribble notes during faculty staff meetings, while preparing a lesson, taking notes on students, while on the phone important messages linger on my scraps of paper often misplacing important messages left on that tiny scrap if only I’d written in a black marble notebook then I wouldn’t have to have looked everywhere tonight for over an hour and a half, unsuccessfully, even the inside of the garbage can

Great descriptions of all the places you write your notes. I can totally identify with the search for that misplaced, important message left on a tiny scrap!

I guess we all do that. I think I'm obsessed with note taking! I'm trying to use a notebook but I find myself writing those crazy little notes. Thanks for commenting.

I have used this mentor text but never thought to use it to describe my own diligent note-taking ways! How clever.

I love how you are using a mentor for your slices. I can totally relate to your notetaking I am the same. I try to take picture of important and file them where they fit. Now my camera role is filled with random photos. Not sure my system is working. I do love finding a post-it and remembering an important moment.

I love what you've done with your slice here. I have The Quickwrite Handbook but don't remember this prompt so I'm going to look for it so that I can borrow it too. All the accumulation of detail bring your busy notetaking fully to life.
